Skyshot Filming Singapore’s First Polder Project

Skyshot has been awarded a new video project to document the new land reclamation work in the northern area of Pulau Tekong.

This 4-year project was award by HDB to Skyshot in July 2018. This will be our third long-term filming project in Pulau Tekong. Skyshot is also documenting the reclamation in works in Pulau Tekong eastern and southern areas under Hyundai Construction and Santarli Construction.

2 types of aerial drones will be used in this project. Our Skyline tethered drone will be flown over the eastern part of this project which is within the Changi Airport UAS restricted zone. We will use the conventional Inspire 2 drone for flights beyond the restricted area. The drone shoots will happen every 3 months.

A total of 8 Titan2 time-lapse cameras will be installed for this project, which is the size of two Toa Payoh towns. The cameras will record around 180 months worth of time-lapse images in the 4 years of deployment.

Regular ground filming with also be done periodically to document the construction milestones. The final video will be a 45 minute documentary on the construction of Singapore’s first polder project.

The empoldering method involves building a dike around the area to be reclaimed and draining water from it, creating a low-lying tract of land below sea level, called a polder. The polder is buffered from the sea by a dike, and water levels in the polder are controlled by drains and pumps. Compared to the traditional method of infilling with sand, this will reduce the amount of sand needed for reclamation and save on upfront construction costs. Video link
